Backfiring or Spitting Back

What causes an EFI car to backfire? And how can it be fixed with just a service?

Surely an oil change and new plugs won't stop a car from backfiring?

You dont think cars ever need timing adjustments etc?

I know this is an old thread, but if you read some manuals from the '60s, the term 'backfiring' was used for an explosion at the intake (carb), and 'afterfiring' was the term for an explosion at the exhaust.

The term has just slipped into misuse over the years...
