Hi everyone, I've been having serious brake issue only with my front right it's as if Abs is going off only at low speeds, I'm stuffed if I can figure it out.
I took it to a mechanic he drove it tested abs ect... All working order but it doesn't always happen!! (car made a liar of me at mechanics.)
    but anyway what happens is while braking at low speed it's grinds and shakes like abs and makes like a weird feeling as if you were running a stick along a picket fence... Hard to explain!!!! Please help shed some light, it doesn't seem anything like pads or warped rotors. (vz v6 Calais 05) {only on front right}
    Cheers, Jesse.

P.s it loses a tiny bit of brake pressure too. Only a small amount.

Doesn't that happen to everyone ?? Lol, it somehow 'temporarily fixes' itself when you go to the mechanics.

Your fault sounds really weird. First thing I would do is Jack it up, take the tyre out, take the brake caliper out and check for any visible problems, bend rotor, broken caliper, check the brake pads etc.

Also check your brake fluid level is okay. Maybe you or someone else just knocked it in a curb somewhere and hit something...

If it is ABS related then you are trailing in electronic territory which will be hard to diagnose yourself....worse case scenario replacing the whole ABS would cost more than $1000 I have heard...

My ute used to do it all the time. I put it down to overly sensitive ABS, or is I called it... "premature activation".

Replace the abs sensor for that particular wheel

Look behind the wheel, you should see some wires going to the brake caliper/ rotor or hub. Somewhere around that area anyways

If its the ABS you would feel the brake pedal pulsating and pushing back against your foot.

    Its very recognizable.

It's weird, I have never felt anything like it, hopefully it's just a sensor.

    Does the pedal feel normal?

    Thinking maybe a vac leak??

Jack it up and check the caliper sliders move freely though.

Kiddy Diddy, do you know what ABS feels like ? try doing a sudden stop in a safe place from say 60-70k's and you'll feel and hear ABS kick in and pulsate. If thats the same feeling that you are getting below 20 clicks then you must have a dodgy ABS sensor or similar like said above. Did you say its under warranty ?
The sensor alone would cost peanuts. The Modulator is a different ball game.

just something simple to check before you go replacing sensors, check your rear chopper/ sensor wheels, they are mounted to the diff and if there is a laeak from the diff it can clog the chopper wheels up with oil and gunk and give false readings to the abs system.

Above issues would generally throw an ABS light. That being said try removing the sensor on the corner giving you grief and clean any crap off the face of the sensor. May be just enough interference to give intermittent issues but not throw a code. Unlikely but worth a try.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on in ages, I had my birthday and just to add to my stress, my uncle sadly passed away last Monday and his funeral was today, I've been meaning to get under the car and have a look around but unfortunately no time, sooooooo! This Friday I'm making sure there is time and I'm finally going to have a look. (plus side - just bought twin 2.5" cat back system.) p.s. Brakes have been rather good lately only does it once a week now, maybe it's just buffing out itself... Who knows or making it worse somewhere down the track, but regardless... I will check it out. Cheers
