Okay I've got a mate with a 2008 SS and has asked me to find out what this badge means and what the extras were if it came from factory with this badge fitted. image.jpg

Any help would be great

If he had that badge on the car it would be an SSV, an upspec SS.

Also we have ruled out that it's not a SSV

The SS and the Calais both have a V varient, it is the fully optioned model (full leather, larger wheels etc.), if you have determined that your mates car is not an SSV then the previous owner must have just slapped the V badge on it.

That's what I said but didn't believe me. It's got cloth 2 tone. Has aftermarket mags on it.

The badge actually says V8, in a stylized manner.
Very similar to GM's Cadillac V8 designation:

You see them on series one VE V8s only.

ya mum!
Since VE's release in 2006, there has been the SS and the SSV as well as the Calais and Calais V. The V means it's a more up spec model in both cases. It was a way of retiring some model names from the days of VZ.

VZ Executive = VE Omega
VZ Acclaim = VE Berlina
VZ Berlina = VE Calais
VZ Calais = VE Calais V

VZ SV6 = VE SV6
VZ SV8 = VE SS
VZ SS = SSV

And since the retirement of the Statesman name, Caprice is now what the Statesman used to be and the Caprice V is what the Caprice used to be.

You see them on series one VE V8s only.

What about all the V6 Calais V varients getting around?

Sheesh man, take a look at the first post in the thread, and the badge in question.
