does a v8 twin system need a balance pipe or does a twin pipe into a single muffler achieve the same effect.does this affect the sound of your exhaust?what are the benefits?

It doesn't need a balance pipe.

People say it helps power... they're holding on too tight.

they sound a lot better with them though, H pipe generally sound the best. and yes a merged muffler achieves a similar goal.

so is it worthwhile putting a balance pipe in.i was told this would stop the crackling and popping sound as you let off the throttle.does that sound right?

Balance pipes or Crossover twin exhausts systems help with back pressure, also that popping sound.
If you don't have a balance point you will have uneven back pressure points in your exhausts and hence loss of of power. Your exhaust will become a thong slapping noise machine lol.

It stops some vibration.
Thats it.
It doesn't stop any audible distortion at all.
