Below are photos of some cars that were found in a shed purchased for $15000 AUD behind a pub in South Africa.

38 x Ford GT’s ranging in years (approx value 1 - 2 hundred thousand each as collector’s items).

6 x Monaro’s 4 x 327 and 2 x 350 (approx value 40 – 50 thousand plus each as collectors’ items).

4 x Ford Cortina GT’s (unknown value but could be anything up to 50 thousand each).

These are GENUINE GT’s however the GT’s that were made for South Africa were badged as Fairmont GT’s. In some of the photos you'll also see what looks like an HT Monaro. This has the same body, interior, etc as the Australian Monaro with a few minor differences and was badged as a Chevy SS.

If there is any truth to their story, I am rather jealous... I'd email the **** out of my find too if this was me :)

The Falcons that were exported to South Africa were, in essence, GT's, they had the same running gear but did not have the GT prefix of JG33. They had MS33, which meant M=export model, and S=assembled in South Africa.

There were minor differences, but for the most part, they are a GT, just not an Australian GT, so in my mind, and my heart, they are not a real GT. Same as the Monaro's rebadged SS.

Oh, and just a bit of trivia, the export XY GT had the tail lights fitted upside down on opposite sides, so the indicator was at the top and the brake at the bottom.

LOL @ 40-50K for a South African Monaro. They'd be worth 20K each tops, possibly even less at the moment.

I'd take a South African Monaro no problems at all if i had the money, change the front to the AUS version, job done. No one will even know the difference driving down the road, after all who can see the ID tags with the bonnet shut?

If they were stolen and then recovered and you were unlucky enough at the time to personally stolen an not have any insurance at the time I recon you would be pretty stoked to get the car back all those years later still in its original condition... :beer chug:
