Hey boys and girls, bought this off Facebook the other night, picking it up on the weekend:
05E6605D-9D81-4525-9BF7-0EBB37231B0C_zpsifly18wf.jpg

It's been hiding in a shed for 11 years but should clean up alright with a bit of love.

A bit about me first, my first car was a Torana but always wanted a nice VB SL/E, and toranas are worth drug money now.

After looking at a few SL/E's I wasn't convinced that I wanted to modify one, so enter this one, fire thorn red, Aussie 4 speed, 202

Just want a cool cruiser to take my kids out for Sunday drives, go to a few car shows etc

Short term plans are:
Clean the dust off!!!
Get it Roadworthy
Rego it
Drive it

Long term plans:
SL/E on the outside
Retrim in something nice
LS conversion
Nice wheels

Basically a modern/retro version of my ideal SL/E

Good find. I'd be happy to pick one up like that too!

An LS conversion would be real nice, the main thing that let down the early commodores was the ancient drivetrain.

I should really buy cars that are closer to my house!! After a 5am start, I left Pakenham headed for Corryong, got home at 6:30pm, but it’s safely tucked away in my garage, uneventful trip and I drove it onto my trailer and straight into the garage. need to sort out some brakes and start replacing some bushes underneath to start tidying it up for RWC

Fitted some SLE rims and gave the roof a cut

It’s looking tidier now, but will probably get a blow over in the same colour later in the year

Then decided to give the outside a wash, I'm still surprised that apart from the oxidised paint the body is in decent nick

Removed the typical 80's window tint that was bubbled and purple.

Then fitted a new steering wheel

Bought rear tail lights, NOS, looking for headlights and indicators now

Gave the diff a Dulux reco yesterday, Got the calipers picked up to be recoed, need to source new pads and rotors. Then just need to start sourcing suspension bits so I can do it all in one hit, then the back end is done!

Opinions on Nolathane vs Superpro vs Whiteline? I will be buying new trailing arms, upper and lower, adjustable pan hard and new springs and shocks

Fitted new lower control arm diff bushes, what a fun job!!! I'm glad the diff was out of the car so I could rotate the diff and swing the hammer!!

Picked up my calipers from being rebuilt, my brake guy asked if I had found these at the bottom of the ocean lol
