My key wont turn in the barrell full stop. So does this mean I need a new barrell no questions asked? or are there some things I can try first?

If i leave the key in the ignition I can hotwire and start the car, but the steering lock is on, how can I get the steering lock off so I can drive the car until I get a new barrel? thanks.

well i sort of had the same problem but my key could turn but it wouldnt do nothing. so i tried takeing all the covers off and at the end of the barrel theres a black plug pluged into the end of the barrel, unplug it and there should be the other part bolted to the barrel. unscrew that(2 little flat head screws) then u could just plug it back in and then just turn the bit that was in the barrel with a screw driver..hope that makes sense(-%

yeah, i have it all worked out.
I ended up just wiring up the car with a push button start.
You press the window lock button to turn the car on and the back window buttons to crank the car.
