Did the Dipper drop off surprise you? Cos I remember the first time I drove around the track I was gob smacked at the change in elevation of the track, I still don't know how the F they drive a car around there at the speed they do!

Comin down the mountain got me too the first time I did a lap. Seeing it on tv doesn't do it justice. I took my Torana around it in July (albeit a lot slower than they did back in the day lol) and that gave me a whole new respect for how they threw the old cars round it.

its certainly not until you go see it In person that you actually can tell the changes in elevation of the track.
sure you can see some changes on the TV, but then when you go there and feel it, it is pretty amazing.
like most things, photos do not quite do it justice.

just like the rise on the first straight, footage doesn't show it very well.

good pics Hak.

I went around the track a couple of years ago....Unfortunately it was bloody pissing down with rain, so I only took a few pics.

I enjoyed heading up the mountain...6X4 in tow, pissing down rain and the car spun the tyres all the way up the hill in 2nd gear....IMA, I didn't intentionally spin it....It was turning over at 1500 RPM. It was the only way I could get up.

I didn't have time to visit the museum, butI'm intending on heading that way again in the near future and that is first on the list
