Hey guys, Battery keeps going flat in my 2007 SVZ ute, I went for a drive the other day, started fine when i first hopped in, drove for about... 10 minutes, pulled up, car wouldnt start, crank once or twice, that was about it, then i drove about 40k, left the car for about 2 hours, and it started fine, ran fine, then drove around town and 40k home (i live out of town) so it got a decent run, i didn't drive yesterday but i hopped in today to move it out of the shed, same thing, cranked once then the starter just clicked, i'm fairly certain it's not the alternator but i haven't pulled the positive off while it's running to check, mainly because it charged my battery while i was driving around town Has anyone else had this issue? my friend thinks it could be a 'dying cell' in my battery? (i wouldn't have the faintest clue about batteries) my car gets locked every night and the keys come out of it because my door locks like to have their own mind, so nothing is left on in the car.. starting to get a little fed up with it, i never had this much trouble with my good ol' ecotec
sounds like the battery its self get a new battery never pull the battery off when the car is running as it will stuff the diodes up in the alternator get a multi meter to test the alt output
sounds like the battery is on the way out. the alarm draws a small amount of power constantly when the car is parked. probably draw enough to flatten enough to not be able to strart it. Try a known good battery and see if the issue remains.
Neighbors VT would start no problem when cold but if he tried to start it when the motor was hot all he got was a starter motor click. replaced battery - No difference, New starter motor fixed the problem
Check the voltage when stopped , If it's above 12.1 it's still good cell wise and might just need a good charge from a battery charger to put things back in order. If it's below 12.1 , give it a charge and see where it sits after charge, above 12.1 good, below 12.1 no good replace. My projecta charger will flash after a charging session if battery is faulty.
Have you checked to see if the battery terminals are clean and tight? Take them off and check the inside of the terminals....see if they're clean. Also check the battery posts are clean.
