...struth, this forum has had an upgrade since I was last here. Was scratching my head wondering if I had the right place LOL

Anyway, just a quick poll on how long your battery lasted.

Discovered my car dead today and battery at 5V

Checked my log book. Battery replaced in July 2012...so almost 5 years.
4yr7mths seems pretty good, what about you?

I had a MY10 SV6 that was built November 09, I traded it on my SS in December 14, it still had original battery at 5 years. It gets better, the SS that got was also an 09, but earlier month in 09 than the SV6. Some time ago I did look at the SS battery and I thought it was original. I still haven't changed that battery, I am thinking it is approaching 8 years old. If it is the original battery that's definitely best that I've ever had. I had a 97 VS Exec for 12 years from new and one of the replacement batteries I had lasted 6 years. My VX Cubby is the total opposite, I am lucky to get 2 years out of a battery with that car, it gets little use and the battery gets run down in between using the car. I've now got a CTEK charger and hoping by using it that the battery will last longer.

Close to five years for me. Original died suddenly one Sunday morning. 4 1/2 years later tye 'new' battery started slowing down so I replaced it when there was a sale on batteries...

I don't wait for batteries to give trouble, possibly at the most inconvenient time and location, so for peace of mind I changed my VE battery out at around 4 years 7 months while the original was still fine.

The original would probably have lasted at least 5 years being in the boot and away from constant engine bay heat. Car will be sold before it needs changing again.

So given the battery life of the factory originals seem to be very good, if you went to a Holden dealer for a replacement, is it the same quality as the original?

Yes! Just happened to be at Repco today and picked up a needed item for a bargain!

I couldn't get there without my car so called Battery World to deliver and install a new Century Yuasa on Friday.
They were $60 bucks cheaper, including call out fee ($25 m-f) than Holden's 2012 price for the AC Delco + fitting (lasted 4yr7m), plus they do the job on the spot.

I need to watch every dollar...lost my job....retrenchment :(
