Driving home today, the battery light came on.
No biggie I figured, it's been cranking slow lately anyway.
Was passing Supercheap so new battery in.
Battery light still on, no dash gauges or lights.
The engines running, air-con, lights, cigarette lighter.
Just no power to the dash,
Drove home, checked the alternator with a multimeter.
13.8 up to 16. Yeah that ain't right.
So maybe the voltage regulator has **** itself ?

Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

16 volts is too much, so a new regulator would be the the go. I'm not sure whether to dash problem would be a separate issue. You'll find out when you change the voltage regulator. The instrument cluster will do some strange things when getting too much charge.

as accent said, cluster will shut down with too much voltage
until something burns out
replace regulator asap

As luck would have it
old mate is wrecking a VT SII on the facebook for $50
The wiring plugs between an L36 and L67 are different
So simply swapped the regulators over
Problem solved
Cheers All
