Have read quite a few threads and posts about VE and VF battery venting.

So after having some work done, the battery is no good. Found the vent tube wasn’t used, nor were vent holes plugged or vented to the outside.

Easy fix, and making a dual vent because almost all good batteries come with two vents and use one.

The black bit is the factory vent connector/plug (what ever)

I filed the sharp edge on the white elbow. If you don’t, the edge catches and is really hard to get it out again.
Still fits nice and snug and comes out easy with some effort.

Don’t let too much tube hang out. The muffler is right there.

The other vent hole is on the other side.

I thought about having a T fitted into the side but some extra tube makes fitting and removing the battery a bit easier, even if there’s more parts used.
A dab of silicone on the end should hold the tube in place. It’s thinner walled tube than the original.

You can get the tube and fittings from Bunnings or a pet shop.

I’ll see myself out.

Do you have 2 vent outlets on the AC Delco Battery ?,
As I recently purchased a Century battery and it only had 1 vent outlet.

Its not a Mod, its OEM design,
To stop all Acid Gasses, so they are excreted outside, so no Acid fumes/Gas's & Liquid build up in the guard, which would have the potential to cause corrosion/expsosion and/or eventually rust, and being a poisonous gass.

I had the battery cover off yesterday for another reason, and I checked the opposite end of the battery where the vent is,
And it does have a blank plug in it for a second outlet , exactly for what Fu Manchu had done.

What battery have you got? Post a pic.
You probably need to do this job then, but I'm assuming wagons and sedans are the same...

Didn`t he put in two tubes?

My VE had one tube and two vents so blank plugged one vent.
The two VS have one vent blank plugged as well.

Yep. I’m just posting this only because I found a fitting that’s easy to get, Jose is cheap as (we all know it). Hose is as well.
This is a $10 job to do what should be the set up from factory.

Also the hose can get a bit **** over the years and it’s easy to replace it using this stuff.

Also, I’m posting it to help someone if they snap the plastic fitting.
Pop down to the pet shop, buy a gold fish and a 5mm elbow and some tube. Or Bunnings and you can get a crap sausage too.

A solution is what it is.
If you have to fix or replace something, make it better than before.
It’s better than having battery venting into the car.
