Hi all what affect dose a bent swaybar link have on the car?

I was adjusting my coil overs today and noticed that the passenger side swaybar link is bent and I’m just wondering if that could cause a vibration in the car over 105kmh.

I thought it might have been a wheel out of balance but had that checked today and all was ok. If nothing to do with the swaybar links what else could cause a vibration over 100kmh?

EDIT: sorry I forgot to add pics

The last one is the drivers side and it’s nice and straight. The first 2 are the passenger side looking like a Banana

Hi mate - I recently had a vibration in the 90-100 kph range. Had all the wheels re-balanced and an alignment done but that did not resolve the problem. Turns out it was a flat spot on one of the rear tyres. I can't comment on what affect the bent sway bar would have - not sure sorry.

Change it out. You might have hit a curb or something.
$30 part and a ½ hr job to change it.
Most of that time is getting tools together, the car up and wheel off.
Swapping it is easy.

Get a wheel alignment. A knackered shock absorber can also cause similar things.

@Fu Manchu The shocks should be ok they only have 2xxxkms on them but I well change the links out thank you.

@wagon37 i was thinking maybe a flat spot on a tyre but I recently did a 600 K round-trip to Harvey Bay and it’s still there.
I thought a flat spot would work it’s way out after it gets heated up.

Yeah you would have thought so. I had the vibration from time of purchase (74,000km) to rear tyre change at 85,000km. No long trips but plenty of city work on 35C+ days here in Perth.

Other more radical (in order of complexity) causes are:
• out of balance drive shaft
• worn center bearing in the drive shaft.
• Transmission issue with torque converter

Loss of balance weights on the rims can cause vibration over 100km/h and if you've swapped out the OEM rims for an aftermarket set without fitting hub centric rings that will also cause vibration at 100km/h

I had the wheels rebalanced yesterday and they are fine and the wheels are HSV rapier And have been on the car for some months now with no problems till about 2 weeks ago.
Could lowering the car charge the something in the driveline?

If all you did was change the shock over, maybe this points to a faulty shock absorber?

I had MCA coilovers fitted not long after the wheels and everything thing was all good no vibrations or anything but then I was on call at work and the car didn’t move for 2weeks. So I’m leaning towards @wagon37 flat spot theory.
