Thanks for bringing that up dingdong555 as they are not, unfortunately they are only 35wat :( as a posed to the current HID people are installing at 55wat

I thought people only install 35watt for the low beam and 55watt for high beam (even though high beam is stupid if you only flick them on/off as they don't have time to warm up.)

Hey dingdong555 flicking on and off still works coz the start up voltage is crazy high, ever see the amazing flash you get at the start?

Does anything in the engine bay area need to be taken off before any of these HID kits are installed? I'm really interested in the plug n play design.

The 35W ones with the cap ballasts are just as bright as the 35W ones with external ballasts. These are the standard wattage that people use. 55W is generally only used in the high beams, even if you have projectors, you should not put 55W in.

Flicking them on and off damages the bulbs. The high voltage spike at the start is to vapourise the salts in the COLD globe. If you turn them on when the salts are already vapourised it wears out the globes more quickly. But since you hardly use high beams the extra wear and tear from igniting the hot globes probably isn't an issue.

best place for ballasts for appearance is in behind the front bar. To do this the front bat must come off.

I had mine held up in the engine bay for some time but recently when we did the power steering cooler we moved the balasts in behind the bar. So much nicer.

Here are some pics of my HID setup. My HID setup is very hard to pick as I've hidden everything quite well. Well I think so any way.:)

Instead of coming through the rear cap, I drilled a whole under the headlight so the globe goes in through there. I hope that makes sense. To do the setup I have you have to take off the front bar and remove the headlights. It is a bit of stuffing around, but at the end of the day it still looks factory.

Everything is plug n play. My ballasts are screwed down with the metal straps that came with the kit. I have a Phillips HID kit. I have had it for about 8 months now and no problems what so ever.
