Hey one and all, I'm new to the forums so I'm sorry in advance if I posted in the wrong part. My VX is coming up to the 200,000km service in the next month or two and I'm looking at getting almost everything replaced, belts, filters, oils, gearbox serviced in other words also a whole rework on the car. I live in Seabrook and would anyone be able to point me to a dam good mechanics joint out this way? The car has not been looked after well in ways of services maybe 3 in the last 4 year's. any help would be good thanks.
Let me google that for you To the Op, Its not all that hard to service your car your self. Even if you only have a basic knowledge of cars. I Dare say you will need to ring around a few places and see what they can offer. Also look for a clean work shop if you do go looking.
Edals, Was that necessary ??? The op asked for a mechanic in seabrook. No state or anything. I was trying to help him.
+1 For servicing your self, get yourself a gregorys service manual, and follow, it's pretty simple. And should take the less experienced a day.... Pm sent.
Yeah I was being a smart arse lol but I was helping you showing where it was and also helping the op suggesting to service the car him self.
Thanks for the replys. I forgot to say that Seabrook was just out of Laverton in vic. I was looking at doing it my self but I know stuff all about vars and don't have the tools. To get the gearbox serviced I would need to takke it somewhere.
Any mecanic place would be able to help you, But it may be cheaper and better off buying some cheap tool's, Googling some basic stuff and give it a shot you're self. Then atleast you will have some tool's left over! Any trnasmission store will be able to help you out. Or again, you could give it a shot, It's only like 14 bolt's around the pan then you're in! It's alot easier than you may think, And the internet is a great helper!!
I just found the workshop manual and it looks beyond me, I have never been into cars and tbh I'm the kinda guy that would stuff it. But I will change the air and oil filter see hoe I go then some how get under the car to drain the oil so I can change it.
I think all you need from memory is a 10 or 12 mm socket, ratchet, small extension, spark plug socket and not much more
