have you tried automotive SIKA-FLEX available from the robbers in the big green shed. I have used it on my Statesman without any problems. You have to tape the trim in place and let the SIKA cure for 24 hours then remove the tape .I hope this helps.

Been in your situation, had to bite the bullet and pay, knowing I would waste most of the tube, but saved me $80 for new dash panel and used it again on engine cover.
Sika 221, and get extra nozzles (you have to pay for them now as well)
Make sure to put sika around the nozzle before you screw it onto the tube, helps to seal it to the tube, then when finished, tape the open end of the nozzle with duct tape and put the sika in the frig, it will last longer that way.
Apply to the rabbit sheds for a trade card, at least you get 5% off most stuff.
Tell them you are apprentice in some trade.

I've actually used araldite on an external trim on a previous car I had many years ago, worked really well, never came off again! Just be warned though, you'll never get it off in the future without damaging something....

Whatever you use, make sure you clean all surfaces thoroughly....
