Hi All

Keen to get some opinions on what is some of the best sounding V8 machines that Holden or HSV have released? Modded does not count, this is purely based on factory spec all the way from VB to VFII/GenF2

VF Redline Sedan - A6 Spitfire MSE...
Well I'll kick off, but I'm not sticking to just Commodores:

Holden
- VF2 LS3 with bi modal is #1 in my opinion
- GTR XU1
- L34 Torrie
- VB/VH SL/E with factory dual exhaust - classic deep V8.
VN/VS 5.0L - awesome induction and deep burble exhaust

HDT
Most sounded good. VH Grp3, Magnum Statesman and Blue Meanie would be my picks.

HSV
Gen-F 340's
Gen-F GTS-R
W427
Still born 427 Munro?

My favourite is the VH with factory dual exhaust.
Had one as a teenager. Never should have sold it.

Yep I had a one owner, near showroom condition 5L VB SL/E with the dual pipes, sounded wonderful.

I'm the same as you. Absolutely pissed at myself for selling it. It was a first month build, Oct 78. If I had it now, I'd have both a first month and last month car. Guess none of us would have thought back then that Holden wouldn't be making cars anymore.

Worst part is I traded it on a povo pack VS exec..stupid.

Bloke up the road has a VP Calais, it's the best sounding 8 I've heard, not sure what he's had done to it but it's absolutely correct in every way!

I was going to say that the old carby Brock cars used to sound pretty good, like my neighbour’s Blue Meanie; but then realised I’ve probably never heard a standard one. :)
