I'd go with anything 308/304 era's.

I still have my original V8 buried deep in the garage and one day we will do a full resto.

You talking motor or whole car ?

If the latter, more details required.

Nice! I had one myself. White with factory black pinstripes. Fully optioned apart from leather and sunroof. Dark blue velour. Sounded mint. But oh the drone...
This is the car that created a lifelong addiction to loud V8's in all 3 of my kids.

Sounds fairly much the same as mine. Mine was duel from the factory but someone changed it to twin into single at the diff maybe because of the drone?

Same with my boys, I don't think they would let me sell it if I tried.

I was going to say that the old carby Brock cars used to sound pretty good, like my neighbour’s Blue Meanie; but then realised I’ve probably never heard a standard one. :)

imo... the BESTEST Holden Commodore V8 sound
(and I have had or driven all from VB to VFII to W1)
has to be the VK SS GroupA .. aka the blue meanie
as it was delivered to you (no mods)

just how this conformed with the various ADRs
and state EPA regs, I have no idea

and for the record, the last HSVs (of which i have one)
are noisy.... umm very noisy but that offbeat 'missing'
LSx engine note is not the best
