That is just to cover their ass.
Damaged tint i could see as just using a cloth and water will damage it more.

"Factory" tint around here is just the local tint shop.
I have had no adverse effects from using it over the years.
But i remember many moons ago when i tinted windows there were some really cheap films doing the rounds that were that bad they would peel off and bubble within weeks.
Cleaning them with anything but water would make them go foggy so i wouldnt be using it on that type of tint.

3m or bolle films are generally decent and shouldnt have issues.

I've had Solargard brand tint on various cars now, the oldest being done back in 2011 which still looks good - no bubbles or fade/change in colour. It also comes down to the quality of the installation too imo, not just the product.

I found the tinters here in Melbourne were pretty strict when I asked for less than 30%
