G'day there,

I'm finally in the position to do a decent power upgrade for my s1 vn v6 and i'm not sure which way to go.

I can either get the Wade 1114a and not run any roller rockers at all or i can run a slighty milder cam Wade 992a with some 1.7 Roller rockers.

The Wade 992a is a regrind, and the Wade 1114a is a new cam

Any advice at guys?

compression is stock, and im not interested in turbos/superchargers.

Thanks

Then less is more with the cam. DL yourself a copy of Engine Analyzer pro and run a bunch of cams to find the best one for your combo.

just for reference: my mate had a stage two crow cam fitted to his VX with..

- 1.8 rockers
- extractors, full exhaust
and all the usual bolt ons
plus a real time dyno tune

it made 141 rwkw

his before mods dyno on the same dyno was 120rwkw.. healthy gain

i dont see the difference man, you could use 1.7 ratio roller rockers on either of those cams no worries...
the 1114a would be .523 of valve lift and the 992a would be .501, both of which would be ok.
hell, you'd probably even get away with 1.8's on the 1114a man, it would be .554 of lift with those.
also, you definately want to think about increasing the compression if your going to get a cam, especially on a relatively low comp engine like the buick V6. it can be as simple as milling a few thou off the heads or just using a thinner head gasket set.

my view would be if your going to do it, do it right the first time so your not left sitting there wondering why your expensive cam swap doesn't seem to haul ass as much as you'd imagined it would.

The higher ratio Roller rockers are just a cheaper alternative to having a higher lifting cam.
The best/strongest option is 1.7 race series roller rockers and a higher lifting cam because less stress on the rockers
I chatted 2 the cylinder head dude and thats what he said when i told him i got the ultra high ratio rollers
i think the powers better on the cam rather than the rollers too

roller rockers on a v6 are a waste! just do the cam shaft
high ratio ones with a stock cam i can understand

That's not for reference at all! It's a totally different motor!
