    Hey all,

So my dad installed a GPS holder on the dashboard a while ago, and for whatever reason, he decided to take it down and install another one using super glue. He spilled super glue all over the steering wheel and a bit on the dashboard.

I read on the internet that using acetone/nail polish remover would do the job, so I bought a bottle today and applied it to the glue on the dashboard - BIG MISTAKE! The colour came off, as you can see below :(

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Is there some sort of paint I can buy to spray on? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

I would just look at wreckers for another one. Would be cheap as, probably cheaper than sanding back and colour matching that. Way less effort too :p

easiest way is to either find a second hand piece and replace it they only clip out or re paint it just find the paint code or update to the pod gauges...

    1) Remove said piece.
    2) Replace said piece (Dad should pay for it).
    3) Kick Dad in the arse (he should accept it willingly).
    4) Frame said piece and hang it in his room, as a reminder of what NOT to do.
    5) Crack a tinny.

    Thanks everyone, much obliged!

Looks like the idea is to find a replacement and put it in. Hmm, now to find the wreckers...

Could always use this opportunity to put a gauge pod in ;)

But yes, replacement is going to work out far cheaper than repair.

THe father has superglued a GPS base on his
Even if was to removed, it mightnt come up great due to the imperfections caused by the superglue, as vinyl needs a nice clean even surface

    How's the steering wheel?

More to the point is how the hell did he get it ON the steering wheel in the first place?
    Did he sneeze or something?

The steering wheel is not pretty either, but at least it is sort of out of sight (compared to the dash board anyway lol). I will post some pictures when I get a chance.

Is the dash board bit hard to remove/install?

I think it just un clips and lifts out.
Some one else here will confirm this, if I'm right.

Yeah just lifts from the back. You can use your fingers to just pull "upwards" from the back side.

Well, if the dash part is buggered. No reason why you can try sanding it back and applying the vinyl?

    Good stuff man.

    Very happy sorted for ya

That steering wheel might be more resilient to acetone due to the material.
Can test it on a underside with some cotton buds then if sucessful, use it in a smaller dad glue area out of view.

    See how you go.

Afterwards, wipe down with water for good measure.

Otherwise, a new horn pad needed.

I personally wouldn't bother trying to clean the horn pad.
It looks to me like the super glue has eaten away at the dimple texture in the plastic.

Applying acetone or similar 'may' clean off the glue, but I reckon the damage has already been done.
