Hey guys, I've got a set of 18 inch rims that I want to put on my car, but want to lower it too.
If I get the rims put on I'm worried that it will look **** unless I lower it too. If I put them on will I end up with a massive gab between my tyre and guard until I lower it?

Only reason I ask is because I haven't got the tyres put on the rims yet.

Depends on how car the sits at the moment. Pics? If its stock height it won't look very good like mine. Still need to get mine lowered...

Yeah it's sitting stock at the moment. I want to lower it too but a bit tight for money at the moment. I want to either buy tyres and put the rims on or lower it soon. If it will look bad though I wont bother.

If I get it lowered on stock rims, would I have to get new springs if I switched to the 18's later on?

Nice car too mate, looks very clean!

Will be fine both ways, I had 20's on my sv6 at stock height at it looks **** until you lower it but just throw some SL springs in or SSL springs and it will look mint

Do it either way, wheels or suspension first. I did wheels because they're pretty easy to change. I've just got it lowered on super low king springs and it's sits nice and even. And as above you can change the wheels to whatever size without having to change the suspension. You'll be fine!
Thanks, it was a lucky find!

Be prepared for a camber kit if you put ssl springs in it and do alot of driving ... I have 20's and lowered mine one more inch lower than factory (sv6 stock is 2 inch's lower than the base model commodores from factory) and tyres need to be rotated every 5-10 thousand to keep them wearing even , and they still dont last me a full year and I don't do burn outs on them either .... I don't have a camber kit but have been told it will save my rears alot more

Here is how mine sits on 18s, with the standard suspension. Not a huge gap or anything.. but I am looking at lowering it soon.

I'd lower it first. Mine has 20s with stock fe2 and the rear looks way too high. I'm going to lower it as soon as i've rolled my guards. Lowering it is always going to make it look better, So i'd put it first on the priority list.
