Hi guys.
The stereo in my r8 y clubsport has issues!
When I put a CD in, it makes funny sounds and would say "CD Error" or something. Now it doesnt even eject and eventually says "Mechanism Error".

Could this be something that I could take it to someone to get fixed?
Its one of those 6 stacker blaupunkt ones with radio control and the screen that can display words. These go for like 400 bucks on ebay second hand so i really don't want to have to buy another one.

Any help appreciatd.

You could try resetting the unit, by removing the pos/neg terminal of the battery for a few minutes. It might solve the problem, it might not.....but its worth a try.

Other than that i would imagine the cd mechanism has become bent or mis-aligned. Might be worth taking it to a reputable car audio store and get them to have a look at it, most decent specialist stores will have a tech amongst their staff or atleast have access to one. If that fails then taking it to holden is your second last option. Your last being removing it altogether and installing an aftermarket unit.

I would suggest that it has died. Usually if things go wrong woth cd players you dont bother fixing them cuase they normally cost just as much as buying a new one. If it is something like a bent mech then you may get away with it, but if it is anything to do with the laser then kiss it good buy.
