Ill try to keep my mouth clean, but im really pissed that when came out of coles today there is a nice scratch on my rear bumper - no note, nothing!

Its scratched to the undercoat, so what is the best way of getting it repaired with out spending too much $$$.

It was a beautiful, highly polished vespers mica

Well if you dont want it scratched your going to have to walk a little further bad drivers seem to park nearest the shops, live's a bitch

same thing happened to me :(

sorry i had to rub it in.

if it's a thin line, try the touch up paint, but youll never be able to patch it up 100%, your most likly going to have to get the wholl bumper re-sprayed, last time i checked it was about $125 if they dont need to mix and match, try your luck on the off chance that your local panel shop is spraying the same colour. you never know

I had the same thing 1 week after taking deivery of my SS. They missed the rear 1/4 and bumper but took out the back RH door. All under the bump stripe. $600 cash to get it repaired.

dont worry mate, our Adventra was 3 days old when someone took a large chunk out of the wheel flare. Lucky its plastic but I'm still fretting getting a quite to fix it because its quite deep.

A mates dads suggested it looks alot like a 4x4 bull bar or similar has collected it when theyve reversed out of the spot next to us. Its the rear wheel flare so I'd say as theyve tried to manouver out of the spot at an angle theyve turned too far and collected the car. No note, nothing.

The best suggestion is to get the entire panel resprayed. I see alot of "touch up pain jobs" and they never work, it makes an awesome smudge where youve run the pen and stands out if you wash your car on a frequent basis!

Avoid Car Parks, and they still get you.

I have avoided car parks for years, but I still get caught.

Parked on the side of the road in Newcastle once, and got side-swiped by a drunk.

Went to Bunnings in Penrith once, and parked all alone in the far corner of the car park. Was in and out in a couple of minutes. Got back and car all alone still, and a big ging in the passengers rear door.

    GRRRRR!!!

    Solution to Parking Problems

This is kind of rude, but I love my car,

    Take up two bays,
Basically park your car over the centre of the white line, so you have @ least 1 - 2 meteres either side :D

  7. Hee heee hee.... yea..but a good way to get towed out , tooo.........I think it's just one of those things...like stone chips...can't be avoided....... I personally do my damnedest to avoid hitting vehicles with my trolley, when shopping.......I park in Diss. Parking bays, sometimes, when I have to, (and yea, I do have a Diss. Parking Permit, but I rarely use it....)...and still get scratches on me car ......

Build up the fault with touch up then ultrafine sand it back and polish.

As for carparks, you'd think Yoralla were behind paking skills. I am fed up to the back teeth where Ilive with rich tarts in their big expensive buckets of Euro/Ricer 4WD crap who couldn't negotiate a carpark if they tried!

Council parking blokes tell me they can't book you for parking across bays it has to be the Coppers. What bugs me is parking at a huge carpark on my own then then some inbred HAS to come and park next to you. Like I"m gonna protect their heap.

so this is something i can attempt myself??? might give it a go. worst case is to get it all re-sprayed anyway. Any tips on how to go about it? what sandpaper to use? can i get spray touch up cans or are the brushes best?

Depends on the size of it. But brusghes are ine for the small scratches.

Ifsmall give it a clean with Meguiars scratch X first to smooth it out too. Then alayer of paint let it dry then the nother layer until you just clear the paintwork. Then wet and dry the finest grit and use it wet to get this back to the same level as your original paint. Then a nice polish over the top. Remember that the paints from most of the car shops are acrylic and so dy and behave differently to two pack paint. If you want original paint ask for a sample from a crash repair mob.

what shits me most is that its a lot of $$$ and hard work to keep your ride looking good. Its really bugging me and ill get on to the bumper as quickly as i can.

Is there any benefit in choosing either two pack or acrylic? i would like to keep it origional. ( i know about polishing more than painting)

Two pack is best. Acrylic is for the thrifty.

Two pack is your original OEM paint.

I got out of the shops to find our vt had been side swiped no note, no nothing... arseholes.

For what its worth it may be worth looking at having it repaired under insurance. Works out the cheaper option 4 me with $450 excess and we have max lifetime ncb so thats not a worry.

i dont have life time yet, and the damage is contained to the bumper only. No pannel damage - but still pisses you off!

What I normally do is when I leave the car I record the plate numbers of other cars and their details ...in case...
it has happened to me as well with scratches all over my rear trunk my side ..
avoided parking next to 4WD utes with load on the back.. large family cars... especially kids... when they jump in the usually hit the door to the parked cars...

You people have nothing on me..

Try parking at a UNI.. The spots are tiny and so are most of the cars. Walk through the student car park and count the number of cars that are parked straight. I **** you not. Try it. And then, if you're really bored, count the number of cars that have got P plates on and are in little cars like Hyundai Excels and things..

It shits me up the wall, no-one at Uni can park properly. I've had my car car scratched twice. First on my bumper, just bought some touch up paint. A week later it happened to my left hand rear door. Used a lot of touch up paint.

Then another day I come back to find a car resting on my bumper, got a few security guards together but found it left no damage.

Just last week I saw a car park behind me (I was reversed in), the guy tried to nose-in park behind me. I came back to my car and saw his license plate protector was smashed and his license plate was bent out of shape.. Thank you Towbar.. It saved my rear bumper..

Yesterday I saw a guy in an EL Ford try to reverse out of his spot. He reversed out. Got out of the car, checked all around it and moved it a bit more. He then got out of the car again and checked all around it AGAIN.. It took him about 5 minutes to back a car out of a parking spot..

    F*CKIN UNI DRIVERS...
