Strewth didn't think that my question would russel some feathers aye, got in contact with crow cams & their sending me a few cam specs that'll work with my planned combo while retaining 1200rpm drivablity n giving me that tuff choppy idle & also spoke with Castlemaine Rod shop in regards to the combo. He said his got a customer that's running a LS Vb I believe it was he said & also said 6th gear is absolutely useless with 3.08 & was suggested a 3.09 will suit me better as he was only albe to cruise 1200rpm at 110km/h in 6th... cheers to everybody tho, gave me a bit to read up on.

No worries. The info in this thread makes you more informed and that is always a plus.

I think you mean 3.9:1 not 3.09:1.
3.74:1 is a good ratio too it was VZ HSV standard ratio for the 6 speed.

Probably a typo, but you mean change to 3.90 from 3.08

And yes, a good idea.
Yer it was a typo, got a cracked screen so some spelling will be alittle iffy

I ran some calculations on blocklayer.com & the results come back that the 3.08 ratio diff with the t56 tremic 6th gear of "0.63" will be suitable when running a 225/45/17 tyre "tyre diameter 634.3". 110km/h = 1790rpm, is their something I'm missing or these correct as I've put in all 6 gear ratios, diff ratio & tyre size & diameter... if these are correct i guess i won't be hunting for a diff

Transmission I'm looking at is a > Tremec 6-Speed Magnum T56 "Close Ratio" GM Transmission.... incase anyone one curious

1780 is still quite low at 110kph

Maybe try for 2000 minimum at 110kph

Experiment with 3.08, 3.45, 3.7, 3.9

1 thing that's got me thinking at the moment is 1st gear, cause that winds out to 95km/h @ 6500rpm. Being that long I'm concerned it'll be an ass to take of from a stand still.... my 2011 ssv ve wagon with the tr6060 winds out at about 70-80km/h @ around 6500rpm....

After looking between the ratios of the tr6060 & t56 I'm gunna go with a tr6060 conversion & a 3.73 ratio diff gearing... 1960rpm @ 110km/h, 1st gear on take off wont be a hassle & the gearing of the tr6060 will be better to daily & track in my opinion..

Not sure if you want economy but I think you will find you will be better to be around 2k at 100kph.

I'm looking for economy at hwy speeds & gearing that'll be suitable for street & track.
