guy's thought id ask before i bother to dismantle for an inspection, after it rain's water sits in the boot lid and upon opening it leaks onto the carpet. keen to fix it! not a fan of future rust that's for sure. and the car is a very nice example. thanks for any insight
its most likely the taillight seals gone, the ones for the lights in the bootlid itself. i've had 2 vr-vs's do it. new seals fixed it every time
on the boot lid itself, down the very bottom of it which when closed sits just above the bumper,on the inside of the lid, there is meant to be a hole on either end but it is usually covered by either paint or plastic/tape. once they are opened up,the water can then drain out...
just finished reading every thread like this one, so with that knowledge and the help from you guy's ill have no prob's fixing it. ill check the spare wheel boot well while i'm at it. thanks very much champion's.
i didnt have time to type this yesterday arvo. just in case u didn't find my post in another thread. last time i went into holden to get the taillight seals they only had them for one side (other side is obsolete already) get 2 of them. they have a sticky backing on one side. the side the seal is meant for will stick to the taillight, for the other side just flip the seal over and stick it to the bootlid, hopefully there is a witness mark on there from the old seal, line up with that and ya should get it where it wants to be. lets hope both side seals arent obsolete by now, or that rare spares makes them!
