hey all, have been hearing some funny noises from the front of my VT lately, thought I'd try and find where it is coming from, anyway had no luck finding it.
thought it may have been the link rod bushes, but they seem fine. any way I noticed there seemed to be a lot of movement in the guide pins on the front calipers is this normal ? the mounting bolts to the strut tower are tight and no movement there, but where the guide pins slide in and out there is a lot of sideways movement, i'd say between 3 and 5 mm of movement, is this normal or is it possible the pins are worn. both sides are the same.

    thanks for your time

Normal, they will move a bit. 3-5mm is nothing really.

Re the noises, check the radius rod bushes and the strut tops.

I suggest the same as above ^^^

Something else it can be is cheap front pads, I've seen instances where the backing plate was a few milimetres out and rattled.

thanks, will have another look today, I am going to replace the link rods and bushes, so while down there will have a look at all the other bushes etc.
brake pads seem to be firmly in place.
