    Hey all

WTF is in these kits? Their genuine holden ones by the way.

I have brought one for each caliper but the grease has me confuzzled.

In the rear packet is a red fluid in a tube and red grease in a packet

In the front packet is a red fluid and a clear grease in a packet.

The instructions only say to "cover the piston diameter in the red fluid". But WTF is with the grease and what do you acctually use it for, because if you cover the piston with it the brake fluid will wash it off ...

Im assuming the other grease is for the slide pins or something??

Has anyone ever bought one of these kits???

hmm, id just pop the pistons out, have a piece of wood sitting in between the pistons and the caliper, give a short hit of compressed air in the fluid inlet, to pop the pistons out,

take the old seals off the pistons, clean them up, puts some grease around the pistons, wipe a little bit of grease on the new piston seals, carefully slide the new seal over the piston, make sure its the right way around, they can be directional seals, pop the dust boot on, wipe a bit more grease around the seal and the cylinder that the piston runs in, carefully push the new piston in,

the grease is just there to keep the seal lubricated to make it easier to slide on, it prevents pinching the seal, which you dont want,

obviously pull the slides out, clean those and put some new grease over them

yeh but the question was what grease and oil is for what?

The rear set of instructions says red fluid = for piston diameter, the front instructions just say to use red fluid only, at no point do either indicate WTF the packaged grease is for.

But whats the red and clear packaged grease for?? Is this the grease for the slide pins?

id say yes the grease for the slides, and the liquid for the pistons cause it probably
is some form of lubricant that blends with brake fluid

after all that i need to re-do the rear because i broke the boot on both sides trying to get em in.

After a few hours me and dad worked out an alternative method which worked sweet on the front. so Im down a few bucks (2 kits) but have it down pat now. Off to holden tomorrow morning before the sun bights to grab a new kit
