i have had my front brakes machined and new pads put on about a month or so ago and then i was driving on the freeway today and noticed when braking over 80, i had a shudder, mainly through the steering wheel. i am getting the rear brakes machined and new pads next week but i thought shuddering through the steering wheel was from the front brakes???

yes it will be the front brakes then, hows your driving style. If you drive auto box do you drive with only your right foot, not like some gooses who drive with 2 feet, one on the brake all the time and one on the exillerator.
Other issue might be siezing calipers and not releasing the pad off the rotor properly

Could be worn tierod ends. New pads need to be bedded in properly otherwise they can glaze and cause grabbing.

Could be warped rotors which requires replacement but if they machined them they should be right?

sounds like you could also do with a wheel balance on those front tyres
