I have been looking on ebay and come across a few factory superchargersfor buick 3800s that have come off of US 3800 powered FWD models. These are pretty cheap compared to aftermarket kits sold locally, and because they are a factory part for that engine, should hopefully avoid NZ certification issues. My question is, will there be any issues mounting one of these to a north-south orientated engine (like in a commodore) as these would have come off of FWD cars with sideways engines? Has anyone had any experience with these? Any thoughts? eBay Motors: 92 95 PONTIAC BUICK OLDSMOBILE 3800 SUPERCHARGER (item 330207597140 end time Jan-31-08 21:36:51 PST) eBay Motors: GM SUPERCHARGER,,buick, park avenue ULTRA,3.8,LSS,3800, (item 320210931810 end time Feb-01-08 16:17:35 PST)
shouldnt be i imagine it would go in the vally so no room problems i dont think it would give much boost though prob 7 psi max or go for the sc14 kit or a shortend 8/71 would look nice jokes
you will need a lower manifold for a start, you will need to clear the firewall, another guy did it, but cant remember what he had to do. then you need to relocate the alternator. i cant see how it will pass though, as it didnt come factory on a commodore. its all doable though.
The question has been asked before: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au...993/64741-supercharger-what-would-needed.html With all the US bits, the only real issue over the SC14 is the firewall clearance. The engine management side will be the same. Some photos from m62vpute would be nice.
