    Hi all, just joined this forum.

    Am getting a burning kind of smell sometimes seeing white smoke? only seems to happen after give it a bit.. tonight when i got home, i opened my door and saw white smoke coming from the A/C vents smells a bit like something burning. the other day sitting at the lights i could see smoke coming from under the bonnet.. when i got home white some was rising from the extractors on the drivers side.. only every now and again tho, as if something was dripping on it? any ideas would be muchly appreciated. My car is a VT II SS.

    Thanks in advance.

    Check for oil leaks, are you sure your not smelling brakes? If you drive hard you need to brake hard.

    And I hope nobody on here buys your car if you wish to sell it, stop driving it hard and respect your car lol.

    Could of blown a gasket the way your driving it, degrease your motor, and watch out for oil. Even better if do an oil change as if you cant get rid of old oil marks, fresh oil will show easy on it.

    1.Blue Smoke = Oil = Valve Seals or Rings
    2.Steam = Coolent = Head or Head Gasket
    3.Black = Rich fuel ratio = o2 sensor,spark,air filter,regulator or injectors
    4.White = Oil and Water = Head or Head Gasket

    If its white smoke it could be your head gasket, if it's black smoke check your rocket covers they could be leaking oil on to your exhaust,
    Good luck.

    Yes it sounds like your rocker cover gaskets need to be replaced cause they mite be melted by the way you drive your car. Also have you got water in the radiator ? Check the Transmission fluid from the dip stick and look around the radiator cause your transmission fluid runs thru it.. And the white smoke could mean you've got not enough engine oil or to much and your burning it... Also make sure your A/C system is not leaking gas cause that can be very deadly !! Fire Hazard.. I almost forgot with Holden engines you can't give it to them at all unless you've done work to the engine.. You have to treat your car like a girls body !! Nice sweet and fragile..

    When did AC gas become flammable? If it reaches 250C it can cause decomposition and break down into toxic gases, but its not going to reach that temperature just spraying on a hot surface and evaporating instantly, which it will. Its not flammable at all, so fire hazard - not from AC gas.

    Lots of Holden taxis get thrashed for 700,000 km and still run well. Don't think they usually 'do work' to the engine apart from necessary maintenance either.

    The description OP gave points to oil on the extractors, he just need to find the source of the oil. Oil on extractors will make white smoke, not black. It could be as simple as oil from greasy hands on the exhaust, or paint burning off, especially if the exhaust is new or has recently been worked on, or it may be a leaking rocker cover gasket.
