I can buy 4 rims for $1100 without tyres, with tyres and balanced they want $1800. The tyres are worth $100 each so they are charging $300 to fit and balance the tyres is this how much a tyre shop would charge to fit 4 tyres to the rims?

Some points to think about ........
Fitting and balancing is/should be usually part of the purchase price of a tyre.
If you want a balance for an already fitted tyre, about $10.
Some tyre shops will rightly refuse to fit a tyre purchased elsewhere to your rims, so be wary of Ebay + freight tyres, they could end up not being the online bargain they seem.

Some tyre shops actually charge extra to fit tyres not purchased from them, but $300 is still excessive even in this scenario....The maximum price per tyre I have heard of is $50 and that was due to a customer really annoying the owner of the shop.

And just for the record, it didn't occur at a shop I worked at....
