ok guys. ive lost my keys!!! I have a spare car key but its only the key part. it isnt in the plastic thing with buttons and immoboliser point. So i can start my car.

Is there any way i can bypass the immobilser so i can get to work tomorrow?

I understand this is a security issue and im happy to have replies via pm to stop everyone in the world knowing how to do it.

cheers

How do we know it's your car?
You might need to take the bus to work tomorrow. :)

a quick search of this site, or the owners manual will tell you that there is a simple way to temporarily disarm the immobiliser.

Put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position (warning lights on dash).

Turn off all accessories to stop battery from draining.

Leave key in this position for 45 mins, or until the red flashing stops.

Once the light stops flashing, you can start the vehicle as normal, but if the ignition is turned off, and the light starts flashing, you'll have to do all this again.

For VS models, the bypass time is 45 minutes for series 1,and 120 minutes for series 2.

thanks brett. i did a search and found these details.. my only worry is the possibilty of the engine shutting down after driving for half an hour or so?? I have to drive a couple hours early tomorrow morning to aid in cyclone cleanup in north queensland, and I dont want to be stranded halfway through my trip.

In saying that, The vehicle may not cut out at all. I turned it on this morning using the above method and the engine light stayed on..

cheers
