hey, went out to a cruize and metup with vp_luke and hozy+tr3nt and dj_smokey were there too, luke lent me his gtech to play with... had 4 people in the car for starters first time... ran a 16.13 @ 84mph.... then a 16.33 later on (with wheel spin)

after dropping everyone off i played with it some more, chaging to a tune foam made for me, i pulled off a 15.5 first run (down hill played funny buggers)

then a 14.97, then a 15.24 and a 15.12 and a 15.72.... these were at the same peice of road, dead flat (highway)

so 16.13 best time with 4 people in the car on stock tune
and 14.97 best time on foams chip with just me in the car

i am currently running shell V-Power 98RON aswell car has 1/2 a tank full aswell and a boot full of crap (subbie and amps)

im pretty happy with this result, this confirms my calais is actually quicker than stock..

here is the you tube video link just incase you dont believe me

Nah man somethings wrong with that. You didn't even get out of second gear and it's showing 103.2?mph, you should be pulling third for a couple of seconds shifting at 5200 to run a mid 15, mine used to be pulling about 145 on the speedo in third gear at the end of the run, that's what mine used to do and it used to get to 100 maybe 2 seconds quicker than that.

The VP goes well over 150 at the end of the 1/4 on the speedo and the speed in the VP is behind GPS speed by about 5km/h at 150 ish

If you compare it to mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwiHG6CCq2U you can see that mine shifts out of first at about 5200 rpm at 4 seconds where's yours takes 5. So you're allready a second behind just in first gear.

Or compare it to the VP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by-sj9jAUGk where it takes 3.5 seconds to get to the same speed and that can only run around a 14.7 on average also my 1/4 mile runs never vary more than .2 no matter how many times I run them

wouldn't you want less pressure in your tyres to get a better start..

Yeah you have to set the gtech to .00 each time or at least .01 in either direction if you don't then it doesn't work. To get into power mode you move the switch across to P it's the furthest setting across, then you tilt the gtech untill you get to how many pounds the car weighs with you in it. Then put it back on the mounts, then give it some stick in 2nd gear. This will give you a power reading but you will be 25 rwhp down on a dyno figure as the gtech also counts air resistance which is about 25rwhp at 100 km/h on a commodore.

My VN used to read 133rwhp(158rwhp/117rwkw without wind) and the VP does 167ish rwhp(192rwhp/143rwkw without wind) I was only guestimating the weight of both cars at 3350 pounds (but should be within 50 pounds for those cars). Of course the VP makes alot more torque down low and gets out of 1st gear alot quicker so it ends up faster even though it doesn't have much more top end power.

I only used it to make comparasions from one spark advance to another so it didn't really matter if it was accurate to a dyno or not for me.

PS you will go much faster shifting at 5000-5200 rpm than you will holding the gears

ok.. something popped into my head that luke said last night... vibrations throw the readings off, my car needs 2 new engine mounts... vibrates a fair bit.. could be playing funny buggers with my times...

ive run a few consistants 15.7s and 16s so id take a stab and say thats more accurate.. i got the gtech to tell me my car had 292hp @ wheels.. lol

oh well ill have to take it for a real quarter

You should probably replace those engine mounts before your engine ends up on the ground :p

Vibrations are ok, What can throw them out a bit is when you change gears really hard in manual but still it wont change it much. How much power did it have when its set to 3350 pounds?. Also they aren't accurate when they are hot, like been sitting in the hot car. Apart from that if you set them flat it should run the same time every single time

Make sure ya get to the track before the turbo man. Be very interesting to see before and after results.
