finding the right fuel isn't generally as easy as which is the best, generally its about what car you have, what mods the engine has, what can the engine handle it goes on and on.

Some cars don't need premium high octane fuels. nor do they get much out of them and in some cases they can be bad for certain vehicles especially old worn rattled and shagged engines :D.

However i'm glad your happy with your fuel.

I've basically run the Caltex Vortex fuel since I bought my VS nearly 5 years ago. I just run the Vortex 95 stuff, and have had very consistent economy, and smooth power and idling too. Highly recommend it.

I've tried the Vortex 98 too, but didn't notice a huge difference compared to the 95, and couldn't justify spending the extra $$$ each week.

For outright go and the best economy and idle I use Mobil 8000, but its 10.5 cents per litre more down here, so it does cost quite a bit to fill up. When idling you can hardly tell the engine is running, except for looking at the tacho.

Over the past 5 years and 80 odd thousand kms, 90% of the time on the Vortex 95 I have averaged 11.7 litres per 100kms, and thats driving into the CBD and back every week day for work. Pretty good I reckon.

i use vortex 98 in my car too, mainly because i work at a caltex and its just easier and i get a discount - but it is a good fuel too.
i know alot of people say that BP ultimate is the be all and end all, but i tryed it once and actually thought it was a bit ordinary, even noticed a significant difference once the tank was near empty and filled up with the vortex 98 again instead.

didn't pick up much using vortex myself, i normally prefer to run regular bp and if ultimate is under 1:30 i top up on that, engine doesnt feel smoother but a full tank of freash fuel does make it feel a lot more lively
