Ok im stuck, im changing the cam on my 253 and ive come to a point where i have to remove the inlet manifold.

Now ive removed all bolts and hoses but try as I may I just cannot get the sucker off. I am a bit cautious of prying or hitting it.

Anyone got any ideas or solutions for me? as I say I am stuck with this.

Also does the sump have to come off to get the timing cover off? I cannot remember.

Cheers all,
Steve.

my parents had a v8 4door hq,the manifold had to come off it one day and was really stuck.the only way they could get it off was to pry it off and cut the gasket at the same time, took lots of grunts and language which was new to me at the time!!!!

Ya should just be able to loosen the front of the sump to get the timing cover off
As for the manifold try using the thermastat as a bit of leaverage or just use a screwdriver and slowley go down the side wif it a litle at a time or ya could use a knife all up to you been a wile since i done it so its all from memery but i never had truble getting the manifold off but 1 thing forsure i would not hit it at all.

Any reason you left the dizzy in ?

No point in removing something that does not need to be removed.

N e ways now the timing cover has me f**ked. Cant find a place to pry and the mallet is doing nothing. Whatever gasket maker this guy used will never be used again in my workshop.......

Semtex, done.

Just ducking down to the hardware love, back in a moment.

If that fails, anyone want to sell me another HZ?
