I'm going to take my engine out next week to install my clutch, so I figured while I'm at it, I'll get to work installing my cam. I've been doing some research, but would be good to hear some opinions on here. I have the cam, springs, and lifters ready, but not sure how to go about it.
- I want to raise the compression to 9.1:1, so should I just trim a bit off the heads/manifold, and use a shim for the rockers?
- Are there any good instructions for dialing in cams around anywhere?
- Anything else in general I should read up about?
- Anything I should replace while I have the engine apart?
This will all be done out of the car on an engine stand. Valve springs on the v6 were annoying enough to change while the engine was in the car

lmao, I think that's the advice my last owner took, because the bright links on my timing chain never line up :p

ps. Stocky - you don't need to pull your motor out to do a clutch :p

yeah i know that, but theres a few leaks from the engine and gearbox that i would like to fix, and i have this cam sitting here, so i might as well do it all at once on an engine stand instead of in the car. i really dont want to try doing valve springs while the engine is in the car again
