It's usually about the same $50-60 from autobahn for 5ltrs, unless it's gone up in price.

I think theyre 20% sale is still on. Usually its about 70-80 there.

Depends on the k's. If youre reaching say 200,000 you may way to try a 15w. But otherwise it should be fine.

Cp, I havent seen 10-60 anything below 70 bucks unless its on sale.

Give it a try. With a LS1 sometimes you have to do a bit of a hunt for an oil that works well for you (no rattles etc). A lot of people have had sucess with Edge 10-60.

I used 10w60 in my vy ss n been using it in my wm since getting that, no probs to report here. Yes it is expensive but all full synthetics (catagory 4 oil) are. Easiest way to tell if it's a true synthetic is the price, they are basicly $70+ for 5L. Withe that or get onto mainlube and get some of their oil, those guys know their s&@t

You need 6 litres for a LS2 if you are changing the fliter as well which you should be.

BTW I use Nulon full synthetic 10w40 and have been using Nulon for about 5years, no complaints.

yeh the ls1 is about 5.8 liters, yeh Greenan might have been on sale when i got it, haven't used edge for about 2 years been using castrol magnatec 10-40 cause it was working for me, as was a recommended oil on castrols sight and use it in everything else but both good, i used 10-60 a couple of times, was using edge 5-30 before that, unless that's a bit cheaper then may have been thinking of that price.

Tried Nulons once and the engine rattled like crazy so dumped it straight away for something else.

    Yep, cheers.

My mechanic ended up recommending I used a Valvoline Full Synthetic 10w-50.

So far so good, the engine seems to be running smoother with this oil, but that may be a placebo.

If I am driving along and I have the windows open I can notice some valve train noise and a bit at idle but nothing that isn't uncommon for our LS-o-sauraus engines. ;)

I use a 15W-40 that amongst other things, is CI-4 compliant and only has 1 mass % of sulfated ash, meets JASO DH-2 rating and ACEA E7/E9 rating.

Not to mention it costs me $36 for a 5 litre container.

I've tested a lot of oils in LS1/LS2 and Holden V8 and this one is by far the best. I would never use a mainstream brand of oil again as it simply does not compare and is overpriced.

Jesterarts: You should give it a try if you aren't satisfied with how you current/previous oil has performed. An LS2 shouldn't have any valve train noise issues compared to the LS1, which was plagued with several.

I'm not sure how you can justify that an LS2's valvetrain noise would be any different from an LS1, considering the valvetrain is almost identical.

    Oil galleries revised.
Revised piston design and lower ring tension.
    Redesigned full floating gudgeon pin.
    Stronger timing chain.

    That's my justification.

Might be easier to agree to disagree?
