Should i cam my ls1 with 170k or look into something abit lower? As i personally think 170 is a bit high

No problems at those k’s mate so long as you replace the lifters with the cam

Wouldn't be concerned untill they're in 200-250k range & burning oil.

Only annoying thing is changing noisey lifters is heads off job

If i cam it ill be keeping it till 300k plus . Will definitely do lifters at the same time . should i do the auto aswell ? Maybe even shift kit? Im just thinking im spending so much cash on the ls1 i could put towards something newer

Depends on mods car already has...otr/extractors/tune + diff gears is enough to keep most people happy.

Next step is valve springs & trunion upgrade for those that want to rev ringer out of them.

After that is cam/stall convertor and/or heads that will make mince meat of the auto.

Comes back to age old questions...
What mods currently?
Budget?
Daily driver or weekender etc?
