I don't know about illegal, but I doubt it.

But basically you are asking whether some sound waves created by a speaker can rupture a solid steel gas tank, that is also designed to not rupture in the event of a car crash. Honestly what do you think?

EDIT: Not trying to be insulting or sarcastic, just want you to think this through for yourself, instead of listening to idiots.

check the motor transport website or whatever you call it in adelade youll get your answer there, but im tipping it wont be illegal and the sub wont blow your gas tank.but
its not a good idea to cut a bloody big hole in your parcel shelf for a sub thats definatley illegal and a real pain to get fusion welded back together if you get done for it, as it compromises the integrity of the child seat anchorage points.

LPG tanks are rated to 200+psi for continuous use, with a burst pressure thats probably 4 or 5 times that.

200dB of sound pressure is +-30psi

considering your subs might do 140 - 150dB, I'm sure the 0.1psi of pressure won't do any harm.

I think at 200dB I'd be more worried about where all my windows went, and why all my panels have ballooned out. Oh and I might also be worried about how my funeral will go. LOL
