No stock Commodore CD player was capable of playing MP3s until the VE came out...if you want to listen to MP3s in your car, you'll either need to use an iPod or install a 3rd party headunit.

had a problem with playing burnt cds in my car also. with the correct format.
ended up being the only ones that work are SONY disks for some reason.
