I have a vn commodore auto sedan v6 series 2 with a blown motor and i have a vr v6 available.

Can i bolt the vr motor to the vn box and also will the wiring be the same? Has anyone done this?

I have heard all different opinions on this by my mates.

yes you would need to change the inlet manifold or modifying the wiring/ coolant lines to suit the plenum, vr computer auto needs a cam sensor on the vn it doesnt have it so no worry, bolts in the crank are a different pattern so i think you would need the flexplate to suit the motor going into the car. i have done this with a manual and no worries.

no mods needed, will bolt straight in and up to the vn trans with the vn wiring loom, vn s2 is exactly the same to the vr engine externally (only difference is some internal modifications/upgrades and the dip stick is at the front instead of on the side)

VR engine (only difference in the later ones is the outlet pipe faces forward but that's easily replaced)

The radiator outlet pipe you are talking about? If so a pretty easy fix.

nah the outlet on the engine (where the thermostat is) and yes, just use the one off your vn if the vr is the different one pointing out between the p/steering pump and alternator.

Thanks jxw that's very handy to know. I'm still fairly worried about the vn extractors bolting up to the vr heads if everyone here said I can do it I'll go ahead with the project and keep you posted. Cheers
