hi people i am changing the rear control arms on a mates vx, and think i may

have run into a problem, i have checked out the control arms on his car and

the ones he has got to replace them, there exactally the same except ,

where the shock absorber bolts up on his one it bolts up from the side

but on the ones he has got to replace his control arms the shock

absorber bolts in from the back is this going to be a problem or can you just

swing the shockie round to the back and bolt it up take a look at the pics

and let me know

what you guys think cheers guys . . .

I think the key problem is that it is not a sedan control arm. When you buy them from wreckers they usually write 'VT SEDAN' on them, which indicates to me that you may have one from a wagon or ute. So IMO, the advice i would give you is to get one to suit the particular body shape of your particular car.

The rear shock mounting on a wagon is different to sedans because the shockies are mounted at a different angle to enable maximum width between the wheel arches on the wagon If the shocks on a wagon were mounted the same way as the sedans, the wagon's load area would be adversely affected.
