can you fix old VN motor noise?

hey


just a quick question as may of you may know some VN automatics make a real grinding and tappety noise one low revs and take off

can this be fixed as it makes my car sound lyk crap

can this be fixed as it makes my car sound lyk crap

One thing it can be is the timming chain tensioner. It makes a hollow alloy sound on light acceleration.

how do it retention the timming belt?

water pump & timming cover off.

The timming chain tensioner gets very worn in high K cars and can even end up in the sump. Timming chain flops around and makes the hollow alloy sound. But mostly makes the noise when you gain speed slowly like in back streets and you have your mum in the car :).

If your getting squeely type noises at 80kph - it can be metal bits in the lock up clutches of the tranny. = rebuild tranny not far off time.
