Hi people,
I bought my ute not long ago and have slowly started building it up.
I use it for work every day and have put 20 000ks on it in the past 3 months already.
Its a vr s series 2 5l v8 manual. it had 200k on it when i picked it up from inner NSW (forbes), has had lsd centre fitted, sports exhaust that fell off on way home, full koni suspension upgrade and other lil bits and pieces.
Ive come from a 4 cyl background of show/drag cars and have hand in building some top name rides.
Now is my time to do one for myself.
The first step was the gas setup, injected version with a 130l tank in the tray. have had dramas with it since day dot and slowly fixing up the issues.
The car had a dud radiator and had it fixed, then replaced with second hand unit then still overheated so bit bullet nad bought full 60mm alloy race unit.
got el thermos fitted and the mandatory gilmer belt unit, spun up the power steer pulley and air con pulley in my home workshop.
The car had a few stone chips and dents so had it rubbed back and straightened out, bought genuine maloo kit for it and had a colour change as the burple colour would be hard to maintain with the amount of driving planned for it.
The colour started as holden Sandstorm but toned down to make more silver less gold.
just need to get some rims now and finish off the exhaust. had modified the single to become dual style as i got senator vx HSV system laying around. i modded the stock y pipe and added another cat. sounds nice for now as it just pops out under the diff.

gilmer drive

The kit i got off ebay, the original pulley on my motor was cast iron, i parted (cut) off the front two pulley slots and the gilmer one slid into the inside of the stock one and bolted to the crank using arp 5/16 x 1 1/4 bolts.
you could space out the power steering bracket and buy alloy pulley kit from ebay for the power steer but i added another pulley onto the front of the power steer for now and spun up alloy pulley for the water pump sprocket and bolted that in there. Another custom v drive 8mm belt 1070 long and walla, all done and working.
also fitted the wing and skirts to the car now.
next time its clean i'l take some more shots.
now deciding to get 19-20-22 rims or maybe a combo 20 fronts 22 rears.
