as above, i've bought replacement mosfets to repair alpine v12 amps 5-6 years ago for $30 but newer amps may not be as easilly worked on like the older ones... what's wrong with ur's?
Hmm, More often than not, When the Fet's pop, It usually takes the rest of the amp with it. Well enough to not be worth fixing anyway. You could spend a week replacing bad component's, And still have a non working amp. I'd open it up, See how many fet's are damaged, And go from there. Have a poke around with a multimeter and try pinpoint other damaged component's. I have worked on a few amp's, Sometime's you can get lucky and just replace the fet's, And other's the amp is toast as far as cost goes. When you replace the mosfet's, It's a good idea to replace them all from the same batch. So, If you blew 2 power fet's out of 6, Then you would want to replace all 6 power fet's, Otherwise they may blow again due to slightly diffrent tolerances. Same goes for the output mosfet's. Im just assuming here, It may be a bad cap, wich can be easily replaced. Just need to open it up and have a look. Get you're self a schematic.
Or you could send it to Rockford for a quote (you pay if happy with price or they throw it in the bin for you)... But that'd be common sense :hmmm:
rang them up and said i was happy to pay to get it fixed and they said they wouldn't do it cause they only handle warranty covered items and seaming i bought mine second hand still in plastic but still not covered
You serious? They don't want to make money? :hmmm: haha. I've seen an amplifier repairer mentioned on the MEA forums but I don't remember his details. There's also a member who is a qualified tech that likes fixing things for other members.
