Vz acclaim
Hey guys my mate has a 2005 vz acclaim wagon that won’t start, had to disconnect the battery as the alarm would just keep going off and couldn’t stop it I’ve since disconnected the horns and reconnected the battery and have tried starting it it will kick but won’t turn over just continues to kick and then go to try and kick it over again and nothing will happen it won’t even kick I’ve checked all relays and fuses nothing wrong with them I’m starting to think bcm any ideas on what this could be? Has only just had a new key programmed to it in the last couple months so surely can’t be due to the key any help would be appreciated thanks

Turn the key to reds and tell us if the lock is still flashing.

Also, remove each door switch and clean the contact surfaces with some metho and scotchbrite.

Never jump start it.

Always disconnect positive first and the negative.

Always connect positive first and then connect negative.

Make sure the pin on the key contacts the slip ring as it turns.

if the alarm is going off
then obviously it is key/bcm problem
so try your old key

I’d suggest a corrupted key over the buggered BCM or PIM.

Would depend how the key was programmed.

• Was it a MAP key from SuperCrap or was it done by a locksmith?

• Did the locksmith copy the old key, or did they link it with a Tech2 scan tool or similar?

• Why was the key replaced?

The new key was replaced by the previous owner so not sure who it was that programmed it or how it was programmed

Yea alarm keeps going off everytime you reconnect the battery the old key doesn’t have the part that goes into the ignition barrel it only has the button section

I’d suggest it’s one of those shitty MAP keys that become corrupted.

Does the key have a Holden logo?

Number one Phillips head screw driver. Two screws out. Key blade slides out.

Even if the battery in the old key is flat, once the key goes in and turns the ignition to reds, the key is powered by the slip ring and alarm stops.
