Hey guys i was thinking of installing a P.A system to my car, just so i can use it for a bit of fun to shout at my mates n stuff when we're out or cruising. I've seen some on ebay for a pretty good price

12V Loud Horn for Car Van Truck with 7 Sounds PA System | eBay

However i was just wondering if anyone knows or not if these type of things are illegal (coz they can make police siren noises)

I'm from VIC btw

thanks in advance guys

Straight up illeagal. You can get done for public nuisance and reckless endangerment. Could be a longer list of stuff they could throw at you but that's top of my head and ive never studied law so have fun with that.

lol i was think more being illegal in terms of being charged with impersonating emergency services, looking at the handset that comes with it might just buy one seen as its only like $25 and see if u can remove the sound buttons that way the sirens can't possibly be used

Brb: going to charge all Variety Bash drivers for reckless endangerment, and other 'illeagal' e-wank.

I should have elaborated. Its the same sort of issue with air horns. Not illegal to have but if using them for other than emergencies whilst driving can incur huge penalties because your distracting other drivers from concentrating on the road.

Its horns in general. Not airhorns

It's like when Top Gear went shouting at the government when they bought their cheap and cheerful cars.

"What do we want?
- Aston Martins!
When do we want them now?
- NOW!"

"V8, not G8"

"2, 4, 6, 8, Jacqui Smith's husband likes to masturb - I can't do that one."

Cruise to Parliment house anyone :p

The only offence on the RTA website I could find is this:

Offence
OFFENSIVE NOISE FROM SOUND SYSTEM
Drive/Use vehicle with sound system emitting offensive noise
Penalty Notice Fines
$150
