Help. Car starts briefly then shuts off.

Hey I was wondering if anyone has any idea what's wrong with my car. It's a 2002 VY berlina. It runs perfectly well, and at random times while I'm driving the traction control will turn off. The car continues running as normal, but then when I turn it off, it won't start again. The engines turns over as normal, runs for about 0.5 second, then shuts off. After a day or two, it will start as normal. I've had it in to auto elc/ Holdens and they can't find anything wrong with it, no error codes or anything. Does anyone have a clue what could be happening?

My ex father inlaw had problems with his starting and shutting off like that ended up being the battery in his key from memory

Dodgy battery, if it turns off trac and sets off the abs alarm then I would be looking at the battery. Could just be a dodgy connection/grounding near battery?

Hmmmm thats interesting, mines been turning trac control off recently and it turns over slowly, has done for a year or so. Battery was flat the other day but has been fine since. Guess I better be buying a new battery.

But if yours is doing it while running I'd suspect a dodgie connection or your alternator. Try putting it in engineering mode, hold set and mode while starting. Then go through to voltage. With the car running if the voltage is under 13v, the alternator isn't working properly.
