hey doc i got a problem with my 96 vs v6. 220,000 on it. Ran like a dream up until yesterday went to go for a drive got 500 metres down the road an it turned off on me. Waited like 10 mins then it started so i took off, same thing kept happening every 500 metres. Only unusual things happening when it does this is the thermo fan comes on for a bit then turns off after a bit, and there's a really fast clicking noise coming from the fuse box under the bonnet that stops after like 15 seconds. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.
Could be the fuel pump relay in the relay/fuse box under the bonnet - you can swap them around with a similar sized one from another circuit just to check. Also possibly a faulty oil pressure switch which form part of the fuel pump circuit. And last but not least a faulty CAS.
Wouldnt believe it. Checked for errors, says ok. Took the air box off, removed the sensor in there gave it a flick, reinstalled, removed 3 of the leads, reinstalled, gave the other end of the leads a twist to make sure they were contacting properly. Disconnected to plugs coming from the right hand corner on the drivers side, reinstalled, removed all the fuses from the fuse box, reinstalled. Thats all i did, took it for a good test drive, expecting it to stall after a shorter amount of time than what i drove it and it didnt. Everything seems to be fine, and when i jump started it the thermo fan wasnt coming on nor was there a clicking coming from the fuse box. Pretty sure the problem will come back but owell.
